winter solstice 2007

hello winter, you are coming, you are here...
i know because i am nursing a cough and cold
and the old beanie i had isn't keeping my head as
warm as it use to...

i feel like as i get older
i get the chills easier
a quality i am inheriting from my moms?!
oh no! :-)

this saturday, i get to hang out with old friends
friends who gathered last year around this time to welcome
2007 and its messages for us...

friends who have gathered a few times since last winter
at each of the turnings of the season to check in with one another
and spend time connecting with that old, ancient-present part of us

and this saturday, we will meet again
to revisit life's offerings and teachings to us
a year older and hopefully a year wiser
